Competition: World Cup Qualifying
Market: South Korea win
Odds: 7/10 @ BetUS
Simply looking to sign off their World Cup qualifying adventure South Korea will welcome Kuwait to Seoul on Tuesday lunchtime.
Starting with the hosts, already cruising their way to another World Cup ticket with time to spare, South Korea have embarked on a qualifying romp. Marking their return to Group B action last week with a routine 2-0 victory away at Iraq, Hong Myung-bo’s men are unbeaten in all of their nine appearances. In fact, the Reds are unbeaten in all of their last 13 consecutive matchups across all fronts – a purple patch that stems all the way back to February 2024. Simply looking to sign off their qualifying romp with another flurry in midweek, Tuesday’s hosts have also gained a reputation for their continued dominance on home soil. Rightfully pencilled in as a landslide contender here, South Korea have not suffered a single defeat in front of their own ers since a 1-0 friendly loss against Peru in the summer of 2023. While Myung-bo’s side might have recorded just a sole clean sheet over the past eight months, they will be smelling a golden opportunity in Seoul.
As for the visitors, while South Korea might have enjoyed a sensational qualifying charge, Kuwait will be glad to see the back of another Group B rut. Marking their return last week with a 2-0 loss at home against Palestine, the Blues have collected just five points from their nine appearances and sit rock-bottom of the table. Watching their Arabian Gulf Cup adventure come to an end on New Year’s Eve as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Bahrain, Juan Antonio Pizzi’s downbeat squad will be bracing themselves for another monumental challenge in midweek. Getting 2025 underway with a 3-1 loss against China, Kuwait have recorded just a sole win from any of their previous 17 straight matchups across all fronts – a rut that stems back over the past 12 months. Hit with a 3-1 defeat when they met South Korea for their reverse qualifying showdown on November 14th, they have also lost all of their previous five straight meetings against Tuesday’s hosts.
