have left long-time captain Wendie Renard and all-time leading goalscorer Eugenie Le Sommer out of their squad for Euro 2025.
Les Bleues will open their first tournament under Laurent Bonadei, who succeeded Herve Renard last year, against England in Zurich on July 5.
They then take on Wales and the Netherlands in their next two fixtures in Group D, which appears to be the most competitive at the tournament.
They will do so without two of their most experienced players, after Lyon centre-back Renard and striker Le Sommer were omitted from their 23-player squad.
In the absence of Renard, who has 168 caps and has played at every international tournament since the 2011 World Cup, Paris Saint-Germain defender Griedge Mbock Bathy will wear the captain’s armband.
“She is a magnificent person, she brings people together, she is unanimous,” Bonadei said of Mbock Bathy’s appointment as skipper.
“All the players are behind her. She is also assisted by three vice-captains: [Sakina] Karchaoui, [Sandie] Toletti and [Grace] Geyoro. The choice was made naturally.”
