According to multiple sources, Bayer Leverkusen are currently in talks over g Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken, and Brentford, in turn, are in talks with Liverpool over g Caoimhin Kelleher to replace the 31-year-old Netherlands international.
What makes this story a complete merry-go-round are reliable reports claiming Liverpool are in the final stages of negotiations to sign Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen. With the Bundesliga side looking for a new goalkeeper and Kelleher wanting to leave Liverpool in search of regular game time, there were speculations about the 26-year-old Irish international potentially going the other way as a makeweight in the deal.
However, Erik ten Hag, recently appointed as the new Leverkusen head coach, obviously prefers the Brentford No. 1 to the man currently serving as a worthy backup for Alisson Becker at Liverpool.
Leverkusen are expected to pay between €10-14million for Flekken, while a fee for Kelleher to swap Anfield for the Community Stadium is yet to be decided.
