Ajax snap up Dutch veteran Ooijer

Veteran Dutch defender Andre Ooijer has left PSV to the Eindhoven club’s bitter domestic rivals Ajax Amsterdam. The 36 year old, who was part of the Dutch squad that reached the finals of the 2010 World Cup, has signed a one year deal with Ajax.

The move reunites Ooijer with Martin Jol, who once coached him at Roda JC. Ooijer was an Ajax trainee between 1986 and 1994 before ing Volendam. He also played two years for Roda before ing PSV in 1997. Nearly a decade later, he opted for a move north to England with Blackburn Rovers and spent three seasons at Ewood Park before returning to Holland.
