Aitana Bonmati hopes “this will be the year” Spain complete their sweep of international honours, by going all the way at Euro 2025.
The defending world champions and winners of last year’s Nations League, La Roja will travel to the tournament as one of the favourites to lift the trophy in Switzerland.
Montserrat Tome’s side get their campaign under way against Portugal on 3 July, while they will also face Belgium and Italy in Group B.
“[Winning the Euros] is our main objective this year as a national team, because it’s one of the trophies we don’t have with the senior team,” Bonmati said.
“Because I can say that I won it at youth level, but not with the senior team. So, it will be nice for me and for the team to win the Euros, because it’s one of the best competitions in of national teams.
“I hope this year will be the year, and we will put everything in to doing it.”
Before that, Spain will look to secure their place in this year’s Nations League Finals when they face England on Tuesday.
La Roja, who are two points clear at the top of Group A3, only require a draw at RCDE Stadium to seal their place in the final four.
Spain were beaten by England in the Euro 2022 quarter-final, and Bonmati believes that was a turning point for her side, who avenged that by defeating the Lionesses in the following year’s World Cup final.
