Chelsea are set for a real battle with Milan in their race to sign Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel after the Rossoneri opened talks to sign the Dutch international.
The 23-year-old is regarded as one of the best full backs in Europe and he was the subject of interest from Barcelona and Manchester United.
Chelsea had hoped to sign van der Wiel without entering a biding war with one of the interested clubs, but their plans were marred by Milan’s latest actions.
The Rossoneri have ed Ajax regarding the young defender as they want to secure the deal even before the transfer window opens next summer.
This basically means that Chelsea will have to act quickly if they are to have any chance of g the Dutch international.
