Aggie Beever-Jones played a starring role for England in their 6-0 Nations League win over Portugal, scoring a first-half hat-trick on her Wembley Stadium debut.
Beever-Jones netted three times in just 30 minutes on Friday, with the Lionesses’ victory ending a difficult week on a high following Mary Earps’ retirement.
England opened the scoring in just the third minute when Andreia Norton lost possession close to her box, allowing Beever-Jones to stroke the ball beyond Ines Pereira.
The Lionesses doubled their tally two minutes later when Lucy Bronze headed in from close range after Beth Mead’s blocked effort fell kindly to her inside the penalty area.
Bronze then turned provider for England’s third, whipping a delightful ball onto the head of Beever-Jones, whose effort struck the underside of the crossbar on its way in.
The result was put beyond doubt just before the half-hour mark when Mead turned Catarina Amado before curling the ball into the bottom-right corner with a calm finish.
And the first-half rout was completed by Beever-Jones, who, after collecting Leah Williamson’s long ball, rattled the ball in at Pereira’s near post with the aid of the woodwork.
Chloe Kelly rounded off the scoring in the 62nd minute, rising highest to power Mead’s cross into the net to complete a perfect night for Sarina Wiegman’s side.
England stay second in their Nations League group after Spain thumped Belgium 5-1 earlier in the day, with Esther Gonzalez and Athenea del Castillo both scoring twice.

Data Debrief: Lionesses roar to victory
England are now unbeaten in 12 previous meetings with Portugal across all competitions (W7 D4), only facing Finland (13) more often without suffering defeat in their history (also 12 against Northern Ireland and Switzerland).
And their triumph was led by Beever-Jones, who became the first England player to score a first-half hat-trick since Mead did so in a 20-0 win against Latvia in November 2021.
Mead’s goal also saw her notch her 27th under Wiegman, more than any other player since her appointment back in September 2021.
The Lionesses also continued their impressive form on home turf. They have lost just one of their last 51 competitive home matches (W42 D8), losing 2-1 to 364 days ago in May 2024 in a European Championship qualifier.
