Barcelona have been credited with interest in Liverpool’s Luis Diaz – a rumour which intensified as Barca’s sporting director Deco revealed the Catalan club “ired” the Colombian winger. Asked on the subject, Liverpool boss Arne Slot simply replied he also ired the likes of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal too.
According to Paul Joyce of The Times, Barcelona have indeed made with Liverpool to try and discuss a potential transfer, but the Premier League champions promptly refused to enter into any negotiations.
As for Diaz himself, the 28-year-old was asked to comment on the speculation as he prepares to represent his country in their World Cup qualifier against Peru on Friday. He said he and his representatives are indeed in with other clubs, but he also stressed that it was normal for this time of year, with the summer transfer window approaching, and that he remains happy at Liverpool, regardless of whether he signs a new contract in the near future or plays out the remaining two years of his current deal.
