Roma captain Christian Panucci its he was disappointed at losing 1-0 against Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday.

John Terry scored the only goal of the match on a header from a corner kick.

Panucci said: “Tonight I am truly infuriated, because we could have been there for three or four days and Chelsea would not have scored.

“We played a great game, but were penalised by a block on a set play. We really needed this positive result here and it is maddening that we leave empty-handed.

“At least we can take heart from the fact it was a solid performance and we are on the right track.”

Panucci played for the Blues from August to December 2000.

He added: “My Chelsea career was brief because I only went there for Gianluca Vialli, so when he went after about five games, I went too.”
