Bayern Munich and Auckland City will lock horns with each other in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup this weekend. The Group C match between the German club and the team from the Northern League will be held at the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati and is scheduled to kick off at 5pm UK time on Sunday.

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are one of the favourites for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Although the German giants could not win the UEFA Champions League last season, they reclaimed the Bundesliga title from Bayer Leverkusen and will fancy their chances of becoming the FIFA Club World Cup winners.

Vincent Kompany’s side have been pitted against Auckland City, Boca Juniors and Benfica in Group C. The top two teams will advance to the knockout stages of the prestigious competition. Auckland City are the minnows, while Bayern have the strongest team, which means that Boca and Benfica will have to grind it out for the runners-up spot.

Bayern, though, cannot be complacent. Boca are an Argentine superpower and will be determined to prove that they can match any European team. Benfica have extensive European experience and could spring a surprise.

Team News:

Manuel Neuer, Daniel Peretz, Sacha Boey, Raphael Guerreiro, Dayot Upamecano, Kingsley Coman, Thomas Müller, Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise and Leroy Sane are all part of the Bayern squad.

Auckland City

Auckland City are one of the biggest clubs in the Oceania region. They are a force to be reckoned with and are a hugely attractive club for players in the region. The Navy Blues won the Northern League in New Zealand and will be proud to be rubbing shoulders with the big boys in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Paul Posa’s side have been pitted against Benfica, Boca Juniors and Benfica in Group C and are the only club from Oceania to feature at the FIFA Club World Cup. The top two teams will advance to the knockout stages of the prestigious competition. Auckland City are the minnows, and not many will expect them to make a huge impact at the prestigious tournament.

Posa told DAZN: “Of course, we’re extremely excited and proud. We’re going to what is essentially a new FIFA tournament, a new FIFA initiative.

“There are just so many exciting aspects to the tournament, and it’s a pretty special opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the best teams in the world.

“It’s a dream come true for a lot of people. I think around our club, it’s a huge honour to represent Auckland and New Zealand and Oceania, really. It’s really exciting and a real honour.”

Posa added: “We’re in a tough group, there’s no question about that. We’ve got three global giants, and they have their own different styles, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s just a fantastic opportunity for us.

“We’ve got to play against a German team, then a Portuguese team, then an Argentinian team.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing what Boca and their fans bring to the tournament. They have a distinctive style.

“They’re a great club and their ers are out of this world. I think it’s going to be a very memorable and quite emotional occasion playing Boca, and I’m really looking forward to that.

“We are probably the smallest club there, being an amateur team as well. I think we have to go there and prepare the best we can, give it everything we’ve got and try and cause an upset.

“And you never know in sport, sport’s like that. It’s not over until it’s over.”

Team News:

Conor Tracey, Mario Ilich, Adam Bell, Michael Den Heijer, Nathan Lobo, Dylan Manickum, Nikko Boxall, Myer Bevan, Jerson Lagos, Alfie Rogers and Dylan Connolly are all part of the Auckland City squad.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Bayern Munich scored 99 goals in 34 Bundesliga matches last season.
  • Bayern Munich conceded 32 goals in 34 Bundesliga matches last season.
  • Harry Kane scored 26 goals in the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich last season.
  • Auckland City have scored 22 goals in 13 Major League Soccer matches in the 2025 Northern League campaign so far.
  • Auckland City have conceded 14 goals in 13 Major League Soccer matches in the 2025 Northern League campaign so far.

Conclusion

Bayern Munich have one of the best and strongest squads in the world and should be able to pick up all three points from the match against Auckland City with ease.
